What is a hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a guided therapy session where hypnosis is used to help you relax deeply and access your subconscious mind. hypnosis is known to support goals like reducing anxiety, breaking destructive or addictive habits (like smoking or drinking alcohol), improving sleep or boost confidence.
I personally like guiding clients through transformative sessions that help gently shift their experience of pain, whether emotional or physical, into a sense of comfort, relief, and even pleasure, using the power of their subconscious mind.
Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool to go beyond your limitations (fears, conditioning and belief system, etc) and to give yourself the chance to experience reality from a new expanded standpoint.

What should you expect during a hypnotherapy session with me?

We will usually start a few days before the scheduled session with an introduction conversation of 10 or 20 minutes over the phone or video. This initial conversation will allow me to understand your goals (e.g., reduce stress, improve focus, overcome a fear), to talk about your medical history and any concerns you might have, and for me to explain how hypnosis works and answer your questions.

A few days later, we will meet online or in person for the actual hypnotherapy session which usually last 90 min in total. this includes the actual therapeutic work, your return to full awareness and a small discussion and reflection about your experience.

The multiple benefits of hypnosis are that it can help reduce anxiety and stress, solve or improve sleep problems, increase confidence and self-esteem, get fully or partially rid of phobias (e.g. fear of delivering your baby, public speaking, etc), help in pain management, stop bad habits (like biting your nails or craving sugars).

!Common myths and truths about Hypnosis!

  • MYTH 1: you lose control during hypnosis.
  • TRUTH 1: No, you are always aware and can stop the session at any time. Simply because hypnosis is based on conscious will from the person being hypnotised with his or her consent. At any moment of the session, you are able to stop the state of hypnosis. You are the captain of your own mind.

 

  • MYTH 2: Hypnosis is like magic or mind control.
  • TRUTH 2: No, it is a focused and relaxed mental state, which we call trance state. The trance state is just another word to describe an altered state of consciousness where the brain vibrates at the frequency of the Alpha and Theta waves, which respectively correspond to light hypnosis and deep hypnosis stages. Theta waves state or deep hypnosis is also associated with deep relaxation, meditation, light sleep. During hypnosis sessions, the brain often shifts into the theta range, which is linked to heightened suggestibility, vivid imagery and deep emotional access.
