Massages

Therapeutic massages to harmonise and nurture your essence.

Therapeutic massage

What is a therapeutic massage?

Therapeutic massage aims to restore “homeostasis” to the entire body. Homeostasis is a fancy word for a state of self-regulation and vitality.
It means you should feel pretty good after one of my massage: relaxed, maybe tired but in a good way, with a deep feeling of inner balance.

How does it work?

Through skilled touch, and full presence, I help harmonise the body systems: nervous, endocrine, lymphatic, muscular, reproductive and digestive.

Although it is not medical, this massage provides relief to symptoms and supports the treatment of some pathologies (like lower back pain, hypo-hyperthyroid, poor blood or lymph circulation, low energy, insomnia, migraines, depression, stress, panic attacks, pms to name a few).

What I love about this massage is that it links classic Western medical treatments and an Eastern traditional approach to touch. Quite understandable for a French woman who lived 12 years in Asia and 2 years in the Middle East.

What happens during a session?

It always starts with a chat to understand what you really need on that day. During a first session, this conversation can last 30-45 minutes to fully understand your history, your environment, your way of life, and how you feel in your body and your mind. I always personalise my approach to best suit your specific needs, physical, emotional, and energetic.

The massage itself us a blend of relaxing, balancing and invigorating strokes.

I offer a follow-up depending on your needs or wishes.

Prenatal massage

What is a prenatal massage?

Prenatal massage is a gentle therapeutic massage aiming to relieve any physical discomforts of pregnancy such as back pain, swollen legs, fatigue while supporting the wellbeing and emotional balance of the future mother.

After a 30-45 min thorough discussion, the massage can be performed while you lie on your side, using many pillows and support to accommodate your belly safety and full body comfort.

I am specially trained in prenatal techniques.
I only start taking clients after their first trimester (after 12 weeks).
Also consult your doctor and/or midwife before beginning prenatal massage. you can always write me for any additional information. I am always happy to explain and help you.

What to expect during a prenatal massage?

Gentle and soothing strokes with safe oil and relaxing music… laying down on your side with pillows and bolsters supporting your belly, back and legs. the areas of focus are often the lower back, neck and shoulders, hips and glutes which bear the most strain during pregnancy.

It is all about comfort, safety, fatigue and stress relief.
You can come and get safely pampered with me.

Multiple benefits of a prenatal massage: eases back and pelvic pain, reduces muscle tension and stiffness, soothes sciatic nerve pain, boosts blood and lymphatic flow, reduce swelling in hands, legs and feet, enhances oxygen and nutrient delivery to both mom and baby, promotes the release of feel-good hormones (serotonin and dopamine), reduces stress hormone (cortisol), anxiety, depression, and prenatal stress, calms the nervous system, promotes restful sleep, encourages body awareness and relaxation skills for labor, loosens tight muscles, improves
flexibility to help during delivery.

Postnatal massage

What is a postnatal massage?

Postnatal massage is a special type of body massage given to a new mother after she had given birth usually within the first few weeks or months after birth: starting anywhere from a few days after a normal vaginal birth to 4 or 6 weeks after a C-section, with doctor’s green light.
It is designed to support emotional and physical recovery after childbirth and can be done either at home or in a massage clinic by a trained professional.

Just like prenatal massages focus on pregnancy comfort, postnatal massages focus on healing, relaxation and rejuvenation of the body and mind after labor and delivery,

What to expect during a postnatal massage?

Gentle strokes and firm pressure are usually applied (depending on your body needs) focusing on sore areas such as lower back, shoulders, head and neck, arms and legs. A special emphasis on tender areas can also be recommended such as the epidural point, tailbone and sacrum for complicated vaginal birth, breasts for lactation, shoulders and scapula postural changes during breastfeeding, abdominal and womb area for visceral replacement and c-section scar tissues healing, overall body fluid detoxification after medicated assisted birth etc.

Postnatal massage is usually performed on your stomach or side, depending on your comfort and healing stage.

Multiple benefits of postnatal massage: eases muscle aches and tension, helps shrink the uterus shrink back in its original size and place, improves blood circulation, reduces swelling and fluid retention in legs, feet and abdominal area, calms the nervous system, helps releasing oxytocin (hormone which helps with bonding and milk production), reduces postpartum anxiety, stress and symptoms of baby blues, improves sleep quality, supports hormonal balance, relieves mood swings, emotional tension and upper body tension from nursing, shoulder strain (from breastfeeding), encourages proper posture alignment and core recovery.

Postpartum massage is not a luxury – it is a powerful way to nurture yourself during a time when most of your energy is going to your new baby. Taking care of your body and mind helps you recover faster and feel more present for your baby. Just a few sessions can make a huge difference.

Jamu Wrap or Selendang

What is Jamu Wrap or “Selendang” ?

Jamu Wrap or Selendang is a traditional postpartum body-wrapping practice from Indonesia for centuries. It is part of a larger postnatal healing traditional ritual known as “Jamu”, which includes herbal remedies, massage, and body care aimed at helping mothers recover naturally after childbirth.

When and how is it used?

Jamu Wrap can be applied a few days after giving birth and traditionally done daily for 2 to 4 weeks for optimum results. However, in today’s busy lives, it is most common to apply the Jamu Wrap for 7 to 14 days on average. The wrap can be worn for a few hours a day up to all day, depending on comfort. The wrap is tied securely but not too tight – enough to give support without restricting breathing or movement.

! The Jamu Wrap has to be done by a certified postpartum therapist or traditional birth attendant !

Depending on your personal life schedule, I would highly recommend to commit to at least a 10 day routine for greater results. Every woman’s needs and conditions are different. Please contact me here for any questions.

The “selendang” is a long handwoven cloth made of soft cotton. It is wrapped snugly around the abdomen and waist of the new mother – similar to a belly bind or corset, but with cultural and healing significance. A Jamu herbal paste (made from turmeric, lemongrass, tamarind, betel leaves, ginger and other healing herbs and oils) is previously applied to the abdomen to enhance the healing process.

There are multiple benefits of the Jamu Wrap Selendang: supports physical recovery by helping muscles and skin return to pre-pregnancy tone, helps uterine contraction for faster recovery, reduces swelling and water retention, promotes abdominal toning, detoxifies the body from excess fluids, supports the healing of the c-section scar tissues, offers gentle pressure to support the back and core, reduces lower back pain and pelvic discomfort, boosts circulation, help releasing gas and bloating, encourages self-care and relaxation during the healing process, connects new mothers to ancestral wisdom of nurturing female practices from the inside out.

What are the contraindications of the Jamu Wrap Selendang?

! You will need a doctor’s approval, especially after a c-section or complicated birth !

The Jamu wrap is NOT FOR YOU IF you have any of the following conditions:

  • Recent C-section or surgical birth, You need to wait until your scar is fully healed (usually 4 to 6 weeks after birth) and get approval from your doctor
